Meet KJ

Hi there! I’m KJ, an artist and ethical taxidermist based in Little Rock, Arkansas. My studio is in my home, where I share the space with my two goofy Great Danes and a tortoise who thinks she runs the place. My life is a colorful mix of creativity, studying, and dreams—and, depending on the day, so is my hair! Whether it’s purple, orange, green, or pink, my hair reminds me that life is too short not to have fun with it.

Art has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I began studying it in high school at Marion High School and continued at Cottey College in Missouri. During my time there, I created campus installation pieces that allowed me to experiment with form and storytelling. These experiences cemented my love for art and its ability to bring people together.

In my studio, I focus on giving new life to old treasures. Ethical taxidermy has become one of my favorite ways to blend creativity with sustainability. I transform unwanted or forgotten taxidermy pieces into mythical creatures. It’s my way of honoring these animals and keeping them out of landfills while inspiring a little magic in the world, and now you know what happens to your grand-dad's old hunting trophies that you haven't thought about in years!

When I’m not creating art, I’m diving into the world of law school, preparing for my dream career as an attorney for artists. I’m passionate about helping creatives protect their work and thrive in a world that doesn’t always value artistry as it should. Never be afraid to re-negotiate, and always get it in writing!!

One day, I hope to expand my studio into a larger space where I can host classes and workshops, sharing my love for art and ethical taxidermy with others. For now, though, I love creating for family, friends, and anyone who wants to bring a touch of wonder into their lives.

Thanks for stopping by to learn a little about me and my world. Whether you’re here for the art, the dogs, or the dream of a brighter, more creative future, I’m so glad to have you along for the journey!

Have a project you want to work on together? Reach out! I'm inspired by your creativity :)
